This guy comes into my work in the middle of a dinner rush and takes a seat at an empty table. Along with him he has a pair of boots and bag which seems to be filled with clothes. Of course he stands out and for him to just skip the waiting list would raise questions for anyone so I approach him like any other table asking him how he was doing and those other pointless small talk topics. He replies “I think I might just leave a tip and leave, I feel really bad.” I ask him why and he says “As you can tell I’m homeless, I dont have a lot money but enough to eat, I should leave” I say “No sir, take a seat let me get you some biscuits and a drink. Its totally fine!” “I’m alone, theres no one with me.” I see tears forming in his eyes like there was so much he wanted to tell me. I try my best to cheer him up trying to get a smile from him and he tells me “Im homeless, my wife and I used to love this place but Im alone now. But thank you for everything” Feeling for the guy, I continue to try to get him take a seat and eat something. But he smiles at me, sticks out his hand and says “Again, thank so much for everything.”
The look in his eyes said it all. It gave me an even greater respect for the little things in life, I just wanted to share this little piece of my day that meant the most to me. I hope he is doing well.
